Assessment of the Swedish Workplace Programme Aug 21

Sthlm Policy Group conducted a conflict sensitivity assessment of the Swedish Workplace Programme (SWP), a collaboration between IF Metall and the International Council of Swedish Industry (NIR). The assessment was commissioned by Sida.

The SWP aims at “enhanced decent work opportunities and sustainable business operations by strengthening the capability of the private sector to more effectively manage challenges due to the lack of physical, mental, environmental, economic and social wellbeing at the workplace and in surrounding communities.”

SPG provided an assessment of how social risks and impacts at the local level can affect the implementation of the Swedish Workplace Programme in a fragile and complex environment. The impact of not mitigating or managing conflict risks can deteriorate a company's relations to staff, community and other key stakeholders. Engaging key stakeholders and understanding their interests and concerns, through social dialogue at the workplace level, can prove critical success factors for a company's performance. Building trust can enhance relevance, effectiveness, efficiency and make sustainable impact.
